NARRATIVE ENTRY
Today I shall shy away from the heat of intellectual discussions and post an entry a real blogger posts. I mean after all, what type of blogger doesn't post anything about his/her day-to-day happenings? Well all I can say is that I am one who
Refrains from doing so. Okay so here it goes.
4th of May, 2006 (Sunday)
The Day of The Finals (PART 1)
Tessa reached the finals of the Under 16 in her first attempt! Wow. She didn't play as well as she did in the semi-finals, but managed to put in a competent performance to push Christine (the number one seed) 6-2, 6-4. All credit to Christine for making life difficult for Tessa during the match, putting her on the back foot for the majority of the match. On paper it might seem as a loss. But to me, it was a win. A win for her. A deserved victory mind you. And a heavy lost for that stubborn wall made of "the lack of self-confidence". I'm extremely proud of her. And once again congratulations to Christine for the win!
Oh yes and before I forget congratulations to everyone for a good Spex tournament! All of you guys did so well.
I will now take the chance to document the Mamee match. The weather was really hot as usual and the absence of cloud cover made it all worse. But that didn't seem to sap Desmond of any energy as he managed to hold on to edge out Mamee (or is it Mamy?) in 3 sets, running down every ball and making his opponent go for bigger shots in an attempt to finish off the points as quickly as possible. But all credit to the dude from Madagascar for reaching the finals without dropping a set! The finals seemed too big an occasion for him though as he put on an uncharacteristic display of nerves.
The prize presentation was boring as usual, I managed to take some good photos but once again failed to win anything from the lucky draw, unlike lucky Jonas. It's amazing Marcus didn't win anything! He put in like... FIVE entries. Haha. Or Brian, who twisted the slip to make it stand out.
The Outing (PART 2)
Rushed to the Tanglin Club for a treat the generous club captain was giving the sicc club players for representing the club in the Men's "C" and "D" divisions. Had a delectable meal, after which Tessa, Greg, and myself politely excused ourselves from the meal and, together with Laura and Carolyn took a cab to Cineleisure to catch a movie. (What lazy bums we are!) Once we arrived at our destination,we met the rest at burger king and spent close to half an hour trying to decide what movie to watch. With so many people, it was a challenging task. Chee Jun, Hakim, Stefanie, Jonas, Marcus, Carolyn, Greg, Laura, Bradley, David, Benjamin, Kenneth, Justin, Brian, Tessa, and myself - all wanting their opinions to be heard. After much discussion we split ourselves into two groups in order to serve our own needs. My group went to catch Over the Hedge while the other preferred X Men 3. We managed to ONLY miss 5 minutes of the show, and thankfully, it didn't mean much due to the fact that the movie had NO PLOT (or maybe it had one, but a very lame one I must say). Well for anyone thinking of catching the movie, watch it if you're severely depressed, and it will bound to make you happy again. If you've watched it you'll get what I mean. The CHEESE EXPLOSION? The MATRIX spoof? omg.
After a mind-blowing 1 and a half hours, we (laura, carolyn, justin, marcus, benji, dave, jonas, tessa, myself) headed to the arcades to game our lives away. I have to admit Marcus, our air hockey partnership is rather formidable man! And the sight of you trying out the dance dance revolution machine, was laughable. I'm going to post the video here soon man. (:
Went to Justin's house without Justin (?). Hung around. Had a palatable dinner with hash browns, pasta, fried rice, nuggets, sausages. Proceeded to watch "The Descent" which was quite freaky. GREG was screaming, girls were screaming. Stefanie missed all the scary parts and was smiling throughout most of the show. And that's about it.
This entry is long man. darnit.
oh yea one last thing DAVID we know what's happening. HEH.
